In this free webinar, we’ll explore how to use Unreal Engine to create high-quality geographic visualizations and interactive simulations using geographic information system (GIS) data.
Join Sébastien Lozé, Simulations Industry Manager, for an introduction to the multiple approaches Epic Games is taking to support the geospatial intelligence community. Then, Business Solutions Architect Alban Bergeret will demonstrate how to use an external terrain modeling tool to create worlds from geospatial data.
Alban will give a quick overview of geographic coordinate systems and precision concerns, before going through the workflow between Trian3DBuilder and Unreal Engine, covering data ingestion, vector attribution, terrain generation, and the Datasmith exporter.
Also on the agenda are in-engine optimization with Visual Dataprep, beautification, and the use of a geo-referencing plugin to query coordinates expressed in a geographic coordinate system.
You’ll learn how to:
> Import GIS data using a terrain modeling tool such as Trian3DBuilder
> Use Visual Dataprep recipes to optimize and import the data
> Embellish your project with 3D trees, a water shader, and more

Epic Games
After two decades in the simulation industry building simulators for training purposes, Alban joined Epic to become the first Simulations Solution Architect at the company. Based on his technical background in the industry and his experience using game engines, Alban now helps Unreal Engine users around the world to build the most innovative simulation applications.
